What are Nylok Mechanical Thread Locking Products?

Nylok threadlocking adhesives are highly reliable, low-cost materials that improve torque control, reduce galling, and provide lubricity to achieve controlled torque during assembly. Depending on the application, Nylok thread sealing products are available in a wide range of strengths and will hold critical clamp load pressures even in the most severe environments. Nylok thread locking adhesives offer the following beneficial qualities:

Nylok Threadlocker Product Considerations

When selecting the correct Nylok thread locking adhesive for your application certain considerations must be applied to ensure the correct formula is used. Nylok threadlockers are available in low-strength formulations for easy removal, medium-strength grades that can be removed using common hand tools, and high-strength formulations that offer the highest holding abilities.
The strength and viscosity of the adhesive needed for an application are directly related to the size of the fastener used. Low-strength threadlockers are used on screws up to one-quarter-inch in diameter. Medium-strength materials are for fasteners up to three-fourths of an inch in diameter used in machine tools and presses, pumps, compressors, and as mounting bolts. High-strength threadlockers are best used on fasteners up to one inch in diameter found in permanent assembly applications such as heavy equipment and mounts.

Nylok Blue Threadlocker

Nylok Blue is a self-locking element comprised of nylon permanently bonded onto the threads of a fastener. When the Nylok Blue is engaged, it creates a wedge between the fastener and mating part compressing the nylon and creating metal to metal contact opposite the patch. This metal to metal contact results in positive resistance to vibration and loosening.

Nylok Blue Nylon Pellet

Nylok Blue Nylon Pellet are permanently embedded into the threads of the fastener and are applied through a drilled hole with a plug of oversized nylon that’s wedged into the hole. When the pellet & strip are engaged it creates a wedge between the fastener and mating part compressing the nylon and creating metal to metal contact opposite the element.

Nylok Blue Nylon Strip

Nylok Blue Nylon Strip is permanently embedded into the threads of the fastener. When mating threads are engaged the tough, resilient Blue nylon element is compressed and a counter-force is created to establish a much stronger contact and positive resistance to vibration and loosening.
